Ground Rent

Ground rent is an annual fee paid by a leaseholder to the freeholder for the use of the land.. Following the Leasehold Reform (Ground Rent) Act 2022, ground rent on new residential leases in England and Wales is capped at a 'peppercorn' (effectively zero). Historic leases with escalating ground rents (particularly those that double periodically) can make a property difficult to mortgage and sell.
