ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain)

Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) is an immigration status granting permission to live and work in the UK without any time restrictions.. From a mortgage perspective, ILR holders are treated similarly to UK nationals by most lenders and typically face no restrictions on LTV or product availability. Applicants without ILR — such as those on time-limited visas — face narrower lender options and sometimes lower maximum LTVs.
