Mortgage Terms

SVR (Standard Variable Rate)

The Standard Variable Rate (SVR) is a lender's default interest rate, which your mortgage automatically moves to when your initial deal period ends.. SVRs are set by the lender and can change at any time — they are typically significantly higher than the rates available on a new fixed or tracker deal. Most borrowers should remortgage before reverting to SVR.
