Lockhart Murphy International · Saudi Arabia

UK property finance for Saudi Arabia residents

Whether you're based in Riyadh, Jeddah or elsewhere in Saudi Arabia, we provide specialist UK mortgage advice for buying, refinancing or investing in UK property — built around income earned in SAR, employer-sponsored packages and funds held overseas.

Can Saudi Arabia residents get a UK mortgage?

Yes. Residents of Saudi Arabia — whether Saudi nationals, expatriate workers or third-country nationals based in the Kingdom — can access UK mortgage products through specialist lenders. The key eligibility factors are:

  • Deposit: typically a minimum of 25% for non-resident purchasers, though higher loan-to-value options exist subject to individual circumstances.
  • Income in SAR: Saudi riyal salary is accepted. Lenders assess the sterling equivalent; employer-sponsored housing and benefit packages are factored in where properly evidenced.
  • UK credit history: most Saudi-based applicants have no UK credit file. This is expected and does not automatically preclude borrowing — specialist lenders consider the overall financial profile.
  • Source of funds: Saudi bank accounts are routinely accepted with appropriate documentation — typically three to six months of statements evidencing the deposit and its origin.
  • Advice process: the initial advice and application process is conducted remotely — by phone, video call or WhatsApp — without requiring travel to the UK.

We regularly arrange UK mortgages for clients based in Riyadh, Jeddah and across the Kingdom.

Growing UK property demand from Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia-based buyers are an increasingly active part of the international UK property market, particularly for London and other prime locations. Applications typically involve SAR-denominated income, employer-sponsored benefits packages and funds held across Saudi and international accounts — all of which need careful, specialist presentation to a UK lender.

Who this is for

  • Saudi-based professionals. Working in Riyadh or Jeddah and buying UK property to live in, let out or hold as an investment.
  • Business owners and directors. Income structured through a Saudi-registered company rather than conventional employment.
  • Saudi and international nationals. Based in the Kingdom but not necessarily Saudi or UK nationals.
  • Families planning ahead. Purchasing UK property for children in UK education or as a future family base.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to visit the UK to apply for a mortgage?

Not necessarily for the advice process itself, which is handled by phone, video call and WhatsApp — though your solicitor and lender will confirm exactly what's needed for your specific case.

Can you help if my income is in Saudi riyals?

Yes — SAR income is a routine part of international cases. We'll guide you through how it's evidenced and converted for a UK lender's assessment.

I'm not a Saudi national — does that matter?

What matters most to a UK lender is your residency, income and source of funds rather than nationality alone — we'll talk through what's realistic for your specific situation.

Your home or property may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage or other loans secured upon it.
