Mortgage Default / Credit Default
A default is recorded on your credit file when you fail to maintain agreed payments on a credit account and the creditor formally closes the account.. Defaults stay on your credit file for six years. High street lenders typically decline applications with recent defaults
Specialist lenders may accept defaults, particularly if they are older, satisfied or below certain thresholds.
