Porting a Mortgage
Porting means taking your existing mortgage deal with you when you move to a new property.. This avoids paying an ERC on the existing deal. Not all mortgages are portable, and porting is subject to a full new affordability assessment by the lender
If you need to borrow more than the ported amount, the additional borrowing is usually on a new rate.
