Formal Mortgage Offer
A formal mortgage offer is the lender's written confirmation that they will lend you a specific amount on specific terms, following a full application, valuation and underwriting assessment.. It is legally binding for the lender and typically valid for 3–6 months. It is the document your solicitor relies on to exchange contracts and complete your purchase.
